What is 1spot.lol?

1spot.lol is a live auction board for temporary #1 spots in rotating categories. You submit text, an image, or a GIF as the category allows, and pay to bid. A human moderator must approve your entry before it can hold a public crown. Browse the board without an account; sign in with X to bid.

What am I actually paying for?

A bid, not a guaranteed spot. You are entering a live auction at a price you choose. Your entry becomes a crown only if a moderator approves it and it is still the highest live bid — it may be neither. While it waits for review, your handle and amount show as a challenger, but your entry itself does not.

Could I pay and never appear at all?

Yes — if someone outbids you before a moderator reaches your entry, it never goes live. When that happens you are refunded in full, automatically, to the card you paid with. You do not need to ask.

Someone outbid me after my entry was up. Do I get my money back?

No, and that is the game. You bought a spot and you had it; someone paid more and took it. If losing the crown refunded the bid, holding one would cost nothing and the price would mean nothing.

We say this before you pay, on the checkout box, because finding it out afterwards is a horrible surprise.

My entry was rejected. Where is my money?

Depends which gate rejected it, and the difference matters:

• The automated check refuses entries before checkout, so nothing was ever charged — there is nothing to refund. Fix it and post again.
• A moderator rejects after payment, and that is refunded less the payment processing fee — in full if the bid was under $5.00.

Why is my crown not showing yet?

Because a person has to look at it first. Nothing reaches the board unreviewed — which is slower, and is the reason the board is not full of abuse.

Why is the minimum bid so much higher than the current price?

Each bid has to clear the current price plus $1.00 or 10%, whichever is larger. So a $10.00 crown takes $11.00 to take. Penny increments would turn the board into a bidding war measured in cents.

When do rounds reset?

On a fixed clock, per category. At the end of a round the current holder is retired to the record and the price drops back to the floor.

Can I bid on myself?

You cannot outbid your own highest live bid, including while it is waiting for moderation. You can bid again after someone else takes the top bid. Going back and forth with one other account to fake activity is against the rules.

Do you post to X for me?

Never.We never ask X for permission to post, and could not do it if we wanted to. The share button opens X’s own compose window with text filled in; you decide whether to send it.

Is this gambling?

Here is the mechanic, and you can judge it. You pay an amount you choose and know before you commit. There is no prize, no payout and nothing of monetary value to win. The only thing at stake is a public display position, and if you never get one your money comes back.

Whether that meets any particular country’s definition is not ours to declare, so we do not.
